Department of Labour Mobile Office
The Department of Labour mobile office has been a great success, reaching thousands of young job-seekers and enabling them to register on the Employment services System of South Africa and help them find employment opportunities.
The Department required new, specialised and technologically advanced mobile units with continued internet connectivity to service as many people as possible and be comfortable enough for staff to work on the vehicles for long periods.
Mobile Processing Solutions provided a turnkey solution which included two mobile units with 10 computer workstations each, a facilitator station and a multi-functional back office. The Department of Labour mobile office also came installed with a kitchenette, toilet and a disability lift to cater for all staff requirements. MPS’s comprehensive operations and maintenance plan ensures overall functionality, security and feedback of the project.
Within the initial pilot phase of the project in January 2013, which lasted one month, 2,100 job-seeker registrations across South Africa were successfully ensured. The branded Department of Labour mobile office brought favourable public relationship opportunities for the Department, where more than 500 individuals flank the vehicle at each location.
The overall success of the pilot project resulted in the Department purchasing a second vehicle, which to date continues to attract big crowds. We continue to bring hope to communities and specifically the young unemployed by raising awareness of available opportunities.
